Opening Prayer

Rutendo Mahachi

Almighty God, we understand that our inner life is the source of all things that manifest within our lives. This afternoon we ask that you align our souls, mind, thoughts, emotions, feelings, and impressions with your Holy Spirit and Word of God. We pray that our souls will get along well and that our inner lives will be our greatest assets and not our greatest enemy. As we gather today to have courageous conversations, we ask that you remove any tension, anger, unforgiveness, and negative attitudes within our souls. May you cause the Holy Spirit to work your Word within our souls, so we may attract positivity around us. Enrich us so that we may impact everything around us. Use us to produce a positive energy that we can use to create a great and healthy environment in our community. Make us whole in Christ’s name we pray, Amen!

Scripture – “3 John 1:2-8”

Henry Anyomi

2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul. 3 For I was overjoyed when some brothers and sisters arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, how you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you; 6 they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on in a manner worthy of God, 7 for they began their journey for the sake of Christ, accepting no support from nonbelievers. 8 Therefore we ought to support such people, so that we may become coworkers with the truth.

Leader: The Word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Leader: It is a good and joyful thing to give thanks and praise to you who created us, who loves us, and who welcomes us home again. Therefore, we join with all things created, in heaven and earth, in recognizing your glory! We magnify you as we sing:

(Singing) Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.

Leader: On the night in which Jesus gave himself up, he sat at dinner with those he called friends. Among them was one who would betray him, and one who would deny he ever met Jesus. And yet, Jesus offered to all who were there this meal of reconciliation.

Jesus took the bread of the field, gave thanks to God, blessed it, broke it, and shared it with all who were there, saying, ‘Take, eat. This is my body, broken for you.’
After the meal was finished, Jesus took a cup of the fruit of the vine, gave thanks to God, blessed it, and shared it with those friends, saying ‘Take, drink. This is the cup of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many. Whenever you do this, remember me.’

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

(Singing) Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.

Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his love. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world. Through Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy church, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty God, now and forever.

(Singing) Amen. Amen. Amen.
Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.

Prayer after Communion

All: Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves for others, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

O HEAVENLY, Father!
Throughout time, you have called your children from the places we call home to new lands, setting new journeys that lead to great and wondrous things.

O Lord, Please give peace to all Drew Theo students, calm our hearts and reassure us with your presence.
Please strengthen our care and support systems, and soothe us during our school days. Help us not to be afraid or dismayed and to feel your love for us.

Especially, please pour out thy Holy Spirit. We pray to you, who are now training for the Ministry of our Church.

Please make us modest, humble, and constant in our labors and have a ready will to obey all of God’s will.

May we become faithful children of our Word and Sacraments through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
