God who thunders from within the storm and whispers in a still small voice, we seek your presence this evening. Even as we celebrate the work of the jury in holding Derek Chauvin accountable for the murder of George Floyd, we mourn the lives lost to continued police brutality and the 50 mass shootings that have occurred in this country in the last 30 days alone. How long, O Lord? We weep and cry out for justice, give us the strength to continue through our tears. May we build a world where death and violence have no place, where all of your children can do more than just survive, but indeed thrive. We commit ourselves to the work of witnessing and resisting, dismantling and rebuilding, in the name of the one who died at the hands of the state as one of us, for us. Amen.
We invite you to spend time in quiet meditation on this image.
