“10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” by Matt Redman

Chorus:
Bless the Lord oh my soul, Oh my soul
Worship God’s holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
Forevermore

Call to Prayer

Hayoung Kang

One: Come with your questions, come with your awe!
Many: For the God who broods over the chaos meets us in this place.

One: Come with your energy, come with your weariness!
Many: For the God who breathes new life into the dust meets us in this place.

One: Come with your sadness, come with your joy!
Many: For the God who dared to become human meets us in this place.

Psalm 27:1-8, 13-14 (NRSV)

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When evildoers assail me
to devour my flesh—
my adversaries and foes—
they shall stumble and fall.

3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident.

4 One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in God’s temple.

5 For God will hide me in God’s shelter
in the day of trouble;
The Holy One will conceal me under the cover of God’s tent;
God will set me high on a rock.

6 Now my head is lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in God’s tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud,
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 “Come,” my heart says, “seek God’s face!”
Your face, Lord, do I seek.

13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!

Sung Response

“Wait for the Lord”

Wait for the Lord, whose day is near
Wait for the Lord, be strong, take heart

Reflection – Candle Lighting

As you feel led come forward to the table, take a candle, hold it while you pray silently. Then light it and return to your seat, holding the silence for others as they do the same.

Reading

Psalm 23 (KJV)

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 You make me to lie down in green pastures: you lead me beside the still waters. 3 You restore my soul: you lead me in the paths of righteousness for your name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you art with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Sung Response

“Thy Word”

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid,
Think I’ve lost my way,
Still you’re there right beside me.
And nothing will I fear
As long as you are near.
Please be near me to the end.

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus be my guide,
And hold me to your side,
I will love you to the end.
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near.
Please be near me to the end.

Unison Prayer of the Day

Holy God, we pray to you for those we love, but see no longer. Grant them your peace, let light perpetual shine upon them, and in your loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the good purpose of your perfect will; through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

“Prayer of Jesus”

Our God in heaven
Holy is your name
Your reign come
Your will done
On earth as in heaven

Give us today our daily bread
And help us forgive as we have been forgiven
In the time of trial
Lead us into life
For yours is the kindom and the power and the glory
For ever!

Our god in heaven
Holy is your name, holy is your name.
