Gathering Music
Welcome
Music and Lyrics: Mark A. Miller & Laurie Zelman
1 Let’s walk together for a while and ask where we begin
to build a world where love can grow and hope can enter in.
To be the hands of healing and to plant the seeds of peace,
(refrain) singing welcome, welcome to this place,
you’re invited to come and know God’s grace.
All are welcome, the love of God to share
‘Cause all of us are welcome here,
all are welcome in this place.
2 Let’s talk together of a time when we will share a feast,
Where pride and power kneel to serve the lonely and the least,
And joy will set the table as we join our hands to pray, (refrain)
3 Let’s dream together of the day when earth and heav’n are one,
A city built of love and light, the new Jerusalem,
Where our mourning turns to dancing, every creature lifts its voice, (refrain)

Scripture Reading
Luke 9:10-17(NRSVUE /

10 On their return the apostles told Jesus all they had done. Then, taking them along, he slipped quietly into a city called Bethsaida. 11 When the crowds found out about it, they followed him, and he welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God and healed those who needed to be cured.
12 The day was drawing to a close, and the twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside to lodge and get provisions, for we are here in a deserted place.” 13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.” 14 For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 They did so and had them all sit down. 16 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. 17 And all ate and were filled, and what was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is right, and a good and joyful thing,
always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.
You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life.
You nourish and sustain us through the fruits of the earth,
and awaken in us the joy of abundant life.
When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast.
You delivered us from hunger, silence, and oppression,
and promised to dwell among us in justice and joy.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven,
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
(Sing)
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you, and blessed is your child Jesus Christ.
When we forgot the true nature of your table under the powers of empire,
building boundaries of exclusion,
you gave us in him your living Word, anointed by your Spirit.
Emptying himself, that our joy might be full,
he fed the hungry, healed the sick,
ate with those who were cast aside,
and broke boundaries at the table.
In Christ, the table became a place of healing,
a place of resistance against injustice,
and a foretaste of your coming kin-dom.
Through his life, death, and resurrection,
you revealed in him that your kin-dom is not built
on domination or exclusion,
but on love, justice, and shared life.
On the night in which he gave himself up for us,
he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said:
“Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.”
When the supper was over, he took the cup,
gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
“Drink from this, all of you;
this is my blood of the new covenant,
poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
as a holy and living sacrifice,
in union with Christ’s offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
(Sing)
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,
and on these gifts of bread and the cup.
Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ,
that we may be for the world the body of Christ,
redeemed by his blood.
By your Spirit, make this table
a table of justice and mercy,
a table where the hungry are fed
and the weary are strengthened,
a table where the excluded are welcomed
and the broken are restored.
Unite us with one another,
with all who seek freedom and peace,
and with all who gather at your table across time and place,
until that day when all are fed
and your justice rolls down like waters.
Through Christ,
with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,
all honor and glory is yours, almighty God,
now and forever.
(Sing)
Amen. Amen. Amen.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessing
