OPENING PRAISE SONG

“When Jesus Say Yes” – Harmony David Samuels / Al Sherrod Lambert / Carmen Reece / Tenitra Michelle Williams

When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no

I’m not worried ’bout a thing
‘Cause I know You are guiding me
Where You lead me, Lord, I will go
I have no fear ’cause I know who’s in control

There’s no limit to what You can do
‘Cause it all belongs to You
Yes, it all belongs to You (no rushing now)
You’re almighty and all powerful
And it all belongs to You
Yes, it all belongs to You

When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no
When Jesus say yes, nobody can say no

CALL TO WORSHIP/OPENING INVOCATION

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN

“Stand By Me” UMH 512 – Charles Albert Tindley

1 When the storms of life are raging,
stand by me (stand by me);
when the storms of life are raging,
stand by me (stand by me).
When the world is tossing me
like a ship upon the sea,
thou who rulest wind and water,
Stand by me (stand by me).

2 In the midst of tribulation,
stand by me (stand by me);
in the midst of tribulation,
stand by me (stand by me).
When the host of hell assail,
and my strength begins to fail,
thou who never lost a battle,
stand by me (stand by me).

3 In the midst of faults and failures,
stand by me (stand by me);
in the midst of faults and failures,
stand by me (stand by me).
When I do the best I can,
and my friends misunderstand,
thou who knowest all about me,
stand by me (stand by me).

4 In the midst of persecution,
stand by me (stand by me);
in the midst of persecution,
stand by me (stand by me).
When my foes in battle array
undertake to stop my way,
thou who savèd Paul and Silas,
stand by me (stand by me).

5 When I’m growing old and feeble,
stand by me (stand by me);
when I’m growing old and feeble,
stand by me (stand by me).
When my life becomes a burden,
and I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O thou Lily of the Valley,
stand by me (stand by me).

INTRODUCTION OF THE BISHOP

“KUSHE”

SCRIPTURE READING – NEHEMIAH 4:6-9

6 So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to half its height; for the people had a mind to work. 7 But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and the gaps were beginning to be closed, they were very angry, 8and all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and to cause confusion in it. 9So we prayed to our God, and set a guard as a protection against them day and night.

Leader: The Word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

COMMUNION

Invitation
Leader: Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Confession and Pardon
All: Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Leader: Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners;
that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
People: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
All: Glory to God. Amen.

The Great Thanksgiving
Leader: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Leader: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.

And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

(Singing) Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

Leader: Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ. By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.

On the night in which he gave himself up for us, Jesu took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take, eat; this is my body which is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for your and
for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

(Singing) Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

Leader: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. By your Spirit make us one with Christ,
one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory,
and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever.

(Singing) Amen. Amen. Amen. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.
