Every Wednesday we invite you to Pause & Pray with us. Today’s reflection is written by Thurselle Chisolm-Williams.

Pray:

God, I lift you to your rightful place of praise, worship, adoration, and trust.
God my full dependence is upon you and what you have enabled me to do.
As I navigate school, work, family, life, and the world it can be a place where I feel alone and isolated; help me to know I may be by myself but I am never alone.

God I look to you for wisdom even in the places where it is hard for me to comprehend.
I ask that you open my understanding by day as I run, I avail my body to you at night for refreshing, and revelation as I learn to rest in you.

God help me to complete the task before me, finish the semester strong, and take breaks to enjoy the goodness you have placed in this season.

In all of my pursuits may I never be too busy to pause, pray, and share the blessings afforded to me with others.

Amen.

Meditate:

Genesis 28: 16-22
16 Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place—and I did not know it!’ 17 And he was afraid, and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.’

18 So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. 19 He called that place Bethel; but the name of the city was Luz at the first. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, 21 so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, 22 and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house; and of all that you give me I will surely give one-tenth to you.’
