Gathering Music

“Holy Spirit” (instrumental)

Call to Prayer

Loving, living God, be among us now.
Show us your ways and guide our steps.
Live in us, that we may be people of steadfast hope.
May we receive your word with joy and live your message with love.

Opening Song

“Holy Spirit”

First Reading

Song of Songs 8:6-7 (NRSV)

6 Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm;
for love is strong as death,
passion fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
a raging flame.
7 Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can floods drown it.
If one offered for love
all the wealth of one’s house,
it would be utterly scorned.

Second Reading

1 Peter 4:8-11 (NRSV)

8 Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining. 10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. 11 Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To God belongs the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Time of Reflection

“Reckless Love”

Sung Response

“There’s a Spirit of Love in this Place”

Unison Prayer

God of the lonely, healer of broken hearts, we long to feel your loving embrace today. As we live and work in isolation, remind us that we are surrounded by care. When we reach out in search of connection, may we find tenderness. When others reach out to us, help us to respond with compassion. In the name of the one who loves us we pray, Amen.
