The Word
Deuteronomy 32:10-12
As an eagle stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young; as it spreads its wings, takes them up, and bears them aloft on its pinions, the Lord alone guided Jacob; no foreign god was with Jacob.
Sung Response: He will raise us up on eagle’s wings
Psalm 91:1-4
You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
Sung Response: She will raise us up on eagle’s wings
Isaiah 46:3-4
Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am she, even when you turn gray I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.
Sung Response: God will raise us up on eagle’s wings

Prayers of the People
Lord, you are bread and water, help and healing, freedom, love. You are so many things to so many people – mother, father, friend, fortress, guardian, giver of life, keeper of hopes and fears, redeemer, sustainer, forgiver. We gather here today for prayer and worship in your most holy name. We pray for our campus and for our role here. May we be conduits of your love through our actions, our words, and our choices. We pray to you now as the one whom Jesus called Abba, Father, and whom Paul called a mother hen. The Psalmist called you a fortress, an eagle, a mama bear, a confidant. And like the Psalmist we call aloud to you now the name by which we know you best …
The congregation calls out their favorite names for God.
No matter what name we call out, we know that you will listen. And so we ask you now …
Many:
Lord of all hospitality, awaken us
One:
Show us the refuge of eagles’ wings that we may be a people of shelter in times of storm
Many:
Lord of all peace, awaken us
One:
Show us the love of a parent that we may be a people of unconditional love in this world
Many:
Lord of all power, awaken us
One:
Show us the stability of a rock that we may be a sure-footed and trustworthy people
And so we pray the prayer you taught us, singing …
