PRAY

God, the season of Advent is familiar to many of us. Some of us have looked forward to this time for months, and others enter the season with dread. Help us all to see anew the promise we revisit this time of year: that we wait for you while you are among us; that we yearn for more of your presence even as we know you are always working in and for and with us. May we feel deeply the hope, love, joy, and peace that already fill our lives, and may we trust that you are ever coming nearer to us with more of all of this than we can imagine.

MEDITATE

Spend some time with the words we focus on during Advent: hope, love, joy, peace. You might just hold them in mind, write them down as prayer journaling, use them as a breath prayer, or whatever works for you. What do these words mean to you in this season? What do you need more of? What might you be called to give to those around you?
